Events in Bangalore - Inorbit Mall, Whitefield in association with CRY, invites you to ‘OPEN YOUR EYES’ - A photo exhibition from 22nd to 24th August 2014 11.am onwards

Bangalore 21st August, 2014: Inorbit Mall, Whitefield joins hands with Child Rights and You (CRY) to spread awareness about child labour through the ‘OPEN YOUR EYES’ photo exhibition campaign on 22nd, 23rd and 24th August, 2014, at the mall.

As part of their annual photo journalism campaign, Click Rights, CRY will exhibit photographs and audio visuals focusing on child labour. This would be the final phase of the campaign that uses photography as a medium to sensitize people on issues affecting child rights in India. CRY also hopes to draw attention to the state of child labourers in our country, a social phenomenon that is on the rise, eating away into our nation’s future. Here are some facts:

· 10.1 million child labourers in India between the ages 5-14!

· 22% rise in number of working children between 5-9 years of age!

Through this initiative, CRY wishes to connect with the patrons at Inorbit Mall, Whitefield and sensitize them to the taboo called child labor – a curse that not only deprives children of their education and their mental and physical development, but also steals their childhood.

Inorbit Mall, seconds CRY in the belief that Zero Tolerance is the only way to combat child labor. To spread awareness about this issue in India, CRY volunteers will perform ‘Nukkad Natak’ to spread awareness regarding the issues of child labor. They will also be interacting with the patrons to highlight the grim situation of child laborers in the country and how they can help to eradicate it. The photos being exhibited have been taken by eminent photographers, CRY volunteers and children from CRY project areas.

The event is a part of Inorbit Connect, under which the mall conducts events that cater to various social causes and issues.
