Overcome the fear of the Big C at Landmark!
Landmark hosts book reading session ‘Maximo and the Big C’
Bangalore, 7th October 2013: Landmark is privileged to host a book reading session of -Maximo and the Big C by Viji Venkatesh, a well-known cancer advocate who heads The Max Foundation in India. The reading session will take place on 12th October 2013 from 6.30 p.m. onwards at Landmark store, Forum Mall, Bangalore. Copies of the books will be distributed to all children who attend at no cost.
Beautifully illustrated and poetically written, the book tells us the story of Maximo, a little sparrow who is weak and smaller than other young sparrows, and unable to fly. As much as he tries to overcome his challenge, Maximo is thinking about giving up, when one day he finds himself as the only creature in the forest about to witness the Big Cat's attack of another small and weak sparrow. Finding the strength he did not know he had, Maximo sweeps down and rescues the weak bird.
Maximo and the Big C is a story of hope and courage that illustrates a child’s inner power to overcome the fear of a cancer diagnosis and provides an uplifting tool to engage children in expressing their feelings. This book is the symbol and tool of the 2013 Maximize Life Global Cancer Awareness Campaign, organized by The MAX Foundation in partnership with local Cancer Organisations. This campaign, aims at reaching 15,000 children in 30 countries, each one receiving their individual copy of the book. In India, The Max Foundation is partnering with The Friends of Max, a patient support group consisting mainly of people and families impacted directly/indirectly by a diagnosis of Cancer. The Maximo and The Big C is the product of love by a group of individuals who have dedicated themselves to serving our global community.
The Max Foundation, partnering with Being Human: The Salman Khan Foundation, hopes to be able to bring this story to the little patients in oncology wards all over the country through a reading Session and follow it up with an informal group discussion at Landmark store, Forum Mall, Bangalore on 12th October 2013 at 6.30 pm
