Events in Bangalore - Art Bengaluru - Opening Night at The Collection @ UB City on 21 August 2015, 6.pm
‘Art Bengaluru 2015’ – the most-awaited art festival in South India's 6th Edition promises to bring about a paradigm shift in the perception of the arts
The Collection - UB City and Sublime Galleria in association with the Prestige Group is gearing up for ‘Art Bengaluru 2015’. ‘Art Bengaluru’ aims to go beyond the canvas, celebrating art in its myriad forms.
‘Art Bengaluru 2015’ will open on Friday - 21 August 2015 with a Grand Inaugural Ceremony that will include a state of the art Light/Projection Mapping show, which will take people through the ages by showcasing the history of Art. It will also explain the idea behind ‘Art Bengaluru’. The festival will be on till 30 August 2015.
Uzma Irfan – Conceptualizer and Organizer, ‘Art Bengaluru’ said, “The Indian art market currently has both good quality and discerning buyers. Globally, art is also increasingly becoming an alternate investment option. In this year’s edition of ‘Art Bengaluru’, we have attempted to bring together distinguished artists from across the globe, thus giving people an opportunity to experience, under one roof, the multitude of artforms available. This festival is not just for the art aficionados and collectors. We hope to promote the various artforms and create a greater understanding of art in the city with this initiative. We also encourage schools to bring in their students to make the most of this festival.”
The theme for this year’s festival is ‘Paradigm Shift’. In keeping with this theme, ‘Art Bengaluru 2015’ hopes to promote a discovery of the arts from a change-inducing standpoint. Traditionally art was symbolized by paintings, classical sculpture and so on. However, over the years, the very concept of ‘Art’ has undergone a sea change. With technological advancements, today we have the opportunity to embrace a whole new set of art forms – tech art and interactive and immersive installations, among others. The rich interiors of The Collection, UB City will also be transformed to complement this year’s theme.
Moreover, unlike in previous years where the focus was on presenting different galleries from across the globe, this year will witness a global festival, celebrating national and international artists. There will be 30 exhibits showcasing sculptures, installations, paintings and photography. Suresh Jayaram is curating the art this year. An artist, art historian, arts administrator and curator of national repute, he is a well-known name in the art world. Mr. Jayaram as well as trained art guides will also host curated walks for the visitors to give them an in-depth and holistic understanding of the festival and the artworks on display.
